.....
The most adorable Cocker Spaniel roamed the neighborhood for quite a
while. No one knew its owner, or where it came from. There was
neither a collar nor a name tag around its neck. Perhaps there was a
micro chip implanted under the skin, but that was hard to tell. For
all intent and purpose it seemed like the dog was abandoned.
In passing the street, the neighbors would give a quick glance at
the dog as it merrily dashed from lawn to lawn. Her blonde coat
bounced on shaggy paws, and she held her muzzle high to perfection.
Her appearance was that of a lovable show-dog. Why would someone
want to throw away such a beautiful little animal? Nobody in the
neighborhood seemed to have a clue.
Sonya lived in the neighborhood. She wasn’t much of an animal lover.
With regards to pet ownership, she preferred fish although she had
none. Fish demanded less care; less attention. But when the dog
showed up on her doorstep for the umpteenth time, its begging eyes
melted Sonya’s heart. So, she opened the door and let the dog in.
As soon as the animal entered the house, it hurriedly found a cozy
corner and took what appeared to be a well-deserved nap. Perhaps she
was tired of roaming the streets from house to house. One minute she
was up and the next she was down.
The idea of being a good steward of God’s loving ani-mals entered
Sonya’s mind, and drove her to consider taking responsibility for
the lost dog.
