Can you remember the last time you rode in the car for at least 10 minutes and didn’t see anyone driving while using their cell phone? You can even spot people texting while driving. We have become so used to sending emails, text messages, and instant messages to communicate with family and friends. To add to our techno-savvy world, we now have MySpace, Face book, and Twitter accounts to keep everyone in touch with what we’re doing, often with minute-by-minute details. We even blog now to express our opinions to anyone who will listen.

What did we do before all this new technology hit the scene? We would take the time to make others feel important and loved by calling them for a personal conversation. We would buy cards and write letters to show we’re thinking about a friend or family member. We would spend time with our children playing outside, playing games, or watching TV. We would go visit people to show we care.

What happened to our priorities? Sure, technology is a great tool to have, but we have to keep it in perspective. Try to limit those “distractions” that (I must admit) are fun to use. Let’s spend more time with family and friends. They will probably easily remember the memories you made together, but forget the text messages.
